Nutritional Healing’s Top Tips for Living a Happier and Healthier Life!
November 9th, 2008 by nutritional1. Minimize Stress What is Stress? Stress is the body’s way of responding to our many life’s demands. As we all know, life’s demands can be somewhat challenging at times. Stress can be caused by both good and bad events. When we are stressed by the things that are going on in our lives, our bodies respond by releasing chemicals into the bloodstream. These chemicals can energize us (aka fight or flight), which is very important if this stress is caused by an eminent physical danger. But it can also be a bad thing, if too much of these chemicals are released too often. So…with that being said, It is important for us to find ways of de-stressing our bodies naturally.
Here are a few ways to reduce daily stress:
A. Use Effective Communication Skills in your Relationships
B. Get Proper Rest- at least 7 hours of sleep per night. If you are one of those people that needs more than 7 hours of sleep; be sure you are disciplined to make sure that you get the sleep you need. Also, if you are a napper, by all means nap away….studies have shown that napping may add years to your life.
C. Do Not Over Commit. Try not to take on more than you can handle. It is great to want to do “all you can” for everyone but the one who usually winds up stressing is “you”. Take on commitments within reason and learn how to delegate when and wherever possible.
D. Eat Well (see below)
E. Keep Yourself Organized. You would be amazed as to the amount of stress we all put on ourselves daily due to “disorganization” The more organized we are the more effective we can be. It will save us from losing countless daily hours trying to find things etc.
F. Pray or Meditate- “Stay Connected”! It is important to have “quiet” time just between you and the higher powers that be. Even just 10-15 minutes per day is enough to help keep us focused and on track. It isn’t so much the amount of minutes we spend doing it but rather the daily consistency that is important.
G. At the end of the night take a relaxing bath in lavender dead salt to relax those tired and aching muscles. This is a great way to calm the whole body and a great way to enhance a good night sleep.

3. Get Proper Rest- Sound sleep helps keep our emotional, mental and physical state healthy. Sleep is when the body does most of its repair and rebuilding. Sleep is when we get to recharge our batteries. A good night sleep prepares us for the next day and helps to keep us sharp and alert. Lack of sleep can slow our immune responses and make us unfocused, cranky, impatient, anxious etc. Also, if you are a napper, by all means nap away. Studies have shown that napping may add years to your life.
4. Exercise- Get out there and move! Exercise raises our “Happy Hormones”, it energizes us, it strengthens our cardio system and gets our circulation moving, it gives us greater flexibility, it helps clear our mind, and it helps keep us fit and trim!
5. Avoid Chemicals Where and When Possible Chemicals are everywhere so we would be remiss in suggesting that you can avoid them completely but here are some steps you can take to decrease some of your exposure:

6. Gratitude- Make it a rule to have an attitude of gratitude and only choose to see the good in everyone. Be thankful for all you have no matter what it is! Even when things don’t always go the way we want them to–be grateful– Although we may not be able to see it at the time–there is always a reason as to why things happen as they do–and sometimes things not going the way we had hoped is actually a gift because there is something better coming along for us. Even if it’s just the “Power” to decide to be in a great mood — that is a choice that we all can make. Sometimes opportunities come by and we get caught up in the “how am I going to do that” and “that isn’t going to work “because” etc. Amazingly, if we just make the decision to take action regardless of what obstacles we may think are in the way—it seems that providence moves everything for us so that ”what we want” can happen! We all put limitations on ourselves that keeps us from doing what we “should” be doing. Take Action and make it happen!
